Suffocation
Cast hands, drywall
5' x 3'
2012

I casted my hands and physically peeled, ripped, and broke the wall. My disembodied hands are there to resemble the physical memory of trying to escape the corner. This is based on a traumatic childhood event where I literally felt suffocated. I tried to recreate this feeling in the installation, not necessarily making the viewer feel trapped or suffocated but referencing it as well as the structures and hierarchies of space.
